Family Ecology Walks

Birding | Wildlife Viewing | Ecology Walks
Did you know 547 species of birds have been seen in Los Angeles county? And that our city hosts a myriad of wonderful places that provide great wildlife viewing opportunities?

Join professional bird guide and Biocitizen LA Program Director, Benny Jacobs-Schwartz aka BIRDS by BIJS for an expertly led bird and ecology tour of Los Angeles!

Eager to share his expertise, passion, and excitement we’re excited to bring back his Family Ecology Walk series. From urban nature hotspots, wildlife reserves, to parks – we’ll have a blast exploring the local wildlife and learning along the way!

These walks are geared toward the whole family, and are a mix of educational exploration, field observation, and a whole lot of fun! You will gain a deeper appreciation for our local outdoor spaces, a shift in environmental awareness, and some awesome new skills.

Our walks will offer you how to:

  • Use binoculars
  • Spot and identify some of our local birds
  • Dive into ecological topics like:
    • bird language
    • migration
    • native plants and
    • birds

Each walk is a stand-alone event, but we encourage enrollment for the entire Saturday walk series as we will build on these skills and knowledge gained along the way!

Walks include:

  • Loaner binoculars
  • Wildlife spotting scope
  • eList of all birds seen on walk
  • High-quality education
  • A really good time

Ages: 6+ years old, as we will be hiking and using binoculars
