Melina (she/her) is an East-Coast-based environmentalist with a diverse education background. As a kid in New York City, Melina would aid her mom with developing and maintaining a Brooklyn community garden, which sparked her fascination and passion for ecology.
After pursuing the arts and graduating college with a degree in Acting, Melina jumped into arts-and-wonder-based education working as a lead teaching artist with youth theatre organization Brooklyn Acting Lab. Simultaneously, Melina began exploring youth development and interaction in regards to sexual health and wellbeing with consent education organization Speak About It. After traveling around the country, facilitating workshops and conversations about consent, Melina moved to Los Angeles where she became deeply intrigued with the flora and fauna of the West Coast. She began working as both a Garden Ranger/Educator at Micheltorena Elementary School, and is delighted to be a Naturalist Educator with Biocitizen.
When Melina is not hiking or nerding out about gardens/sex education (a wild combo indeed), you can find her waving at outdoor cats or reading fiction novels.
